CitizenM Hotel and Live In Your Living Room!

December 3, 2014

Hello darlings! A little over a week ago, I got invited to check out a fantastic event hosted by citizenM Hotel. The “Live in Your Living Room New York Festival” is an international house concert network where a lot of artists play in different usual real living rooms, as well as hosted venues across the US and Europe. Each year they organize one emerging, promising act from Europe alongside a local artist to play each concert night.

As from the title of this post, Live In Your Living Room New York Festival’s venue this year was CitizenM Times Square Hotel’s Cloud Bar! A panoramic rooftop bar overlooking the world’s most iconic skyline. Cloud Bar is really just like a living room but an awesome one! The warmly lit lanterns, their tree-trunk bar and their long designer couches, so cozy and beautiful! It is open every day from 4pm to midnight, exclusively for hotel guests.

Ruud Huwelling, Rachel Sage and Live In Your Living Room director, Kees Jonkheer

This year’s featured act is singer/songwriter Ruud Houweling. His band Cloudmachine, recently has won the popular vote of the American Independent Music Awards, category Indie/Alt.Rock. Cloudmachine is an eclectic indie rock band hailing from the Netherlands, founded by songwriter and composer Ruud Houweling who fronts the band, singing and playing guitar. The style of music can be described as atmospheric with a melancholic undertone. To date, the band has released four albums, receiving critical acclaim in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Rachael Sage, a soulful vocalist and innovative multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer has become one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 100+ dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. She has earned a loyal following for her dynamic piano playing, delicate guitar work, soulful vocals. and improvisational audience interaction.

Ruud Huwelling and Rachael Sage performed really great! Rachael’s songs are so meaningful and very expressive. Ruud has such an awesome voice and plays the guitar so well. Great artists I must say! Oh and if you get to check out the cloud bar, make sure to try their own mixed drink called “Pineapple and Cinnamon Margarita” it was so delicous and refreshing! After a long shift at work that day, ending it with a girl-talk time with my partner-in-beauty-crime Jackie of and live music were very much needed. Thank you so much CitizenM Hotel for having us!
