Ippudo East Village

August 9, 2016

Hey loves! It’s Tasty Tuesday and I’m about to share you an awesome place I discovered from a good friend of mine and also because it’s one of the 14 top spots for ramen in New York City!

Let me tell you, my friend and I went there on the most perfect day ever! It was the coldest Sunday dipped to -1 degree, it was freezing cold! So ramen restaurant was the place to be!

This gem can be found at St. Marks, YASSS! This neighborhood is my favorite place to hang out. If you’re a foodie, you must go here, so many great restaurants, bars and cafes. Always a fun time!

We got to Ippudo around 12:30pm and the place was jam packed! 3 reasons, 1 because it was freezing cold, 2 because the place is popular and 3 because it was Valentine’s Day. It was a half an hour but we didn’t mind. The place is really cozy and cool looking inside. When you get to the dining area, it kinda reminded me of a tree house, maybe because of the lighting and the wooden round tables.

Anyway, we sat by the bar, facing the stove where you can actually sorta watch how they make your food which I thought was really awesome and such a tease at the same time. The chef in front of us kept making these “Hirata Buns” which was so amazingly delicious! We ordered these buns with pork and I was blown away, like seriously. I really wanted another one but I controlled myself. HAHA! We also ordered a glass of “Maiko” which had sake, cassis and cranberry juice. I’m not crazy about sake, I actually don’t like it but this turned out pretty good. Just what I needed with the pork buns! πŸ˜‰

And for the highlight, I ordered KARAKA-MEN. It’s the original silky β€œTonkotsu” (pork) soup noodles with Ippudo’s special blend of hot spices, topped with pork chashu, cabbage, sesame kikurage mushrooms, minced pork, scallions, and fragrant garlic oil, topped with a poached egg. Can’t have ramen without it! This was really good, it is definitely worth the hype! The soup and the spices were mixed really good and the noodles itself is well-made and not soggy. Definitely coming back and will try the other ones. YAY!

Thank you for reading! Xoxo

I am not familiar with place. I depend much of your personal account of your “perfect” experience there. I am curious to know what makes that place popular?

Wow! Sounds like you just had a super delicious meal. I’m no fan of ramen, but the way you described it seemed like a tasty treat!
